WHEN DOES A JOURNEY BEGIN?

· By

Is it the moment you start traveling, or the moment the idea is born?

I’ve always loved the preparation phase—wondering what to pack, weighing the suitcase, adding, removing… It feels like a metaphor for life. For me, everything is always, in some way, like getting ready for a trip.

Exactly one year ago, we began our journey. We were in Miami, Florida, ready to rent a camper to travel along the entire East Coast of the United States, then half of Europe, to finally reach our destination — a completely unknown place that we learned to call home in the blink of an eye.

Like kids—excited, happier than ever, and without a hint of fear despite having zero certainties about the future. A whirlwind of excitement after months of waiting. Finally, the moment had arrived—we were about to make one of our dreams come true.

Today, one year later, we’re back in the preparation phase… almost ready to start another adventure. But this time, not on four wheels—on the tip of a pencil. We’ve decided to dive into a new work project. The type of journey is different, but the ingredients are always the same:

  • Excitement
  • Curiosity
  • Uncertainty
  • An unstoppable desire to begin

With our minds soaring, we’re picking the final details to pack in our bags:

  • A sharpener to keep our pencil ready
  • An iPad charger so our energy never runs out
  • An antique compass to create perfect work
  • A pair of glasses for a fresh perspective
  • A new travel companion to double our strength

Are you ready to be part of the most Creative, Rebellious, Eccentric, and Love-Filled project of 2025?

It will be born on April 1st, in honor of Istriceillustra, which came to life exactly five years ago, in the middle of the pandemic—a time when the urge for redemption, rebirth, and the determination to make it despite everything was stronger than ever.

In 2025, get ready for the return of those same feelings, but with a completely different vision, a completely different me, and, as I said before, a new business partner.

AND SOME HINTS ABOUT THE NEW PEOJECT

IT’S ABOUT LOVE & DRAWING

«You know, scientists have discovered that love lasts three years.»
«Oh! And to think we’ve spent thirty together.
I could have loved ten men!»
«I’m sorry, you can always make up for it…»
«Ten men. What would I have missed!»

I have loved hundreds of you.
The boy. The dad who plays.
The crazy one who crosses the whole city just to bring me a coffee.

The devourer of freshly baked cookies.
The collector of objects.
The heartthrob in a polka-dot shirt.
The husband who gets emotional at award ceremonies.
The lover who understands everything…

I would have missed twenty-seven years of surprises.
Twenty-seven times three hundred and sixty-five mornings spent commenting on the news, not counting leap years.
Twenty-seven times three hundred and sixty-five mornings smiling at your smile.

«Tob, you have another new dimple there—I didn’t know that one.»
