NOVEMBER

· By

November is magical.

I love how it sweeps away the dry, red leaves, taking with it the year that’s almost over, the bad habits, and making way for new, much healthier ones.

For me, it’s a month of preparation—I’m getting ready for the new year to come, and for Christmas, the most loved and most dreaded holiday of all! Having been far from home for many years, Christmas is that time of year when I feel the warmth of a familiar atmosphere all over again. I’ll admit, I’m already thinking about setting up the tree to make this feeling last as long as possible, and I’m already planning what to cook… hopefully, I’ll finally get to eat the vegetables from my garden (which, by the way, are growing and becoming huge!).

So yes, Christmas is dancing around my mind constantly! I’m also starting to organize the new year, with fresh ideas swirling (along with Christmas) in my head… and now, more than ever, I’d love to have a partner to share all of these ideas and make them real together. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll meet my work soulmate... Every day, I realize more how much we actually need to be surrounded by people and new inspiration.

I recently joined APIAST, the association of illustrators in Asti, and in just one month, I’ve grown more than in the last five years. Why? Because I’m no longer working alone. I have people I can ask for advice, people I can turn to if I need support. It’s not just that my mind is dancing—it’s flipping! APIAST has given a big boost to my creativity, and my businesswoman/illustrator side is truly buzzing.

I’m making long to-do lists, lists of good intentions, and I’m studying new artistic, business, and organizational techniques.

And here’s one of my resolutions: I SOLEMNLY COMMIT TO SENDING OUT A BULLETIN DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF EVERY MONTH.

There, I said it. This sense of cooperation, of feeling like part of something, also inspired me to do my part and help after the disaster that happened in Valencia. I created an illustration that will be sold through GRAFFICAINFO, which will print 25 LIMITED EDITIONS of each artist’s work, and all proceeds will be donated to help Valencia. If you can, please get in touch with them and lend a hand—in the end, we’re all in the same boat!
