A life of travel!

· By

My journey began on August 21, 1993. I was born ugly but with a bang, with quite a theatrical effect, just like any good Leo would. I was born on my mother’s birthday amidst great celebrations and her great disappointment because she wanted to go celebrate at the Chinese restaurant. The first thing she said to me was that I was ugly, and then she loved me like no one ever did.

The theatrical effects didn’t decrease over time; I’ve always been an exhibitionist and recognizable. In kindergarten, I wore my pants backward because I invented my own fashion code.

In elementary school, I only played with boys and had terrible taste in carnival costumes... Those who know me well know what I’m talking about...sorry I can’t post a picture, is too embarrassing!

By middle school, I was already labeled as the slightly weird, overly artistic one.

In high school, I had some very questionable hairstyles. I listened to techno, punk, metal music—anything that made an annoying noise to others’ ears.

Then I discovered tattoos and scribbled all over myself, poor body!

If I look back, I see all the many versions of myself that have come and gone... all different yet all united by a bit of eccentricity and a pencil in hand!

I was raised in the fields in a place that, during the time of bad hair and noisy music, I hated with all my being, and now I love it with all my heart. For as long as I can remember, the only thing I ever wanted was to draw and see what was out there! And of course, as soon as I could, I did. I took Esteban (my dog), pencils, paper, and iPad and moved far away, and then even farther away, and then to the farthest part of the world.

This is an old illustration of mine made years ago.

I dedicated my life to drawing, and I believe it will be that way for the rest of my days. I studied at the art high school and attended art academy, took courses, I really studied a lot, but I believe that, in the end, the best drawing school was traveling and living intensely. At the time, I didn’t know that this change of scenery would change me so much and so silently. And so it was that, quietly and between one drawing and another, a new identity and lifestyle tailored just for me was stitched onto me.

And now, I would like to talk to you about this life, talking about illustration, food, travel... sharing a bit about my work, my adventures, and those of others. About what inspires me, what I am passionate about, and what surrounds me/us. All those things that make this life so incredibly amazing.

THE END
